Quvenzhané Wallis is in talks for Jay-Z and Will Smith "Annie" remake

Quvenzhané Wallis is in talks for Jay-Z and Will Smith "Annie" remake

Nine-year-old actor and star of Benh Zeitlin’s Oscar-nominated Beasts of the Southern Wild (read out interview with Zeitlin here), Quvenzhané Wallis, is reportedly in talks to play the title role in a remake of Annie that is being produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith.

The role was originally intended for Willow Smith, but the project has been so long in development that Willow outgrew (and presumably, out-sassed) the role.

Anyone who has seen Quvenzhané Wallis on or off-screen presence will recognise that she’s more than a match for the plucky lead role—at nine years old she’s the youngest Best Actress nominee, for a role that she auditioned for when she was five. FIVE.
