Beyoncé lip-synced at Obama’s inauguration
A media storm following Beyoncé’s celebrated rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” at Obama’s presidential inauguration yesterday has ensued, as it has been confirmed that the Pucci-clad superstar was in fact lip-syncing the U.S. national anthem.
As word on the web goes, Beyoncé decided to go with the pre-recorded studio version of the song “shortly before her performance,” and to press seated “just below the podium... it was evident that the band wasn’t actually playing during the song”.
Another source insists that the United States Marine Band actually did play their instruments live, but who knows what to believe anymore. First Lance, now this! Sometimes it feels like everyone is lying to us.
Kristin DuBois, a rep from the Marine band told the New York Post that “all music is prerecorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day. We received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the prerecorded track [and] we don't know why.”
Everyone would now like to take those capricious words of appraisal back, if you don’t mind, and call into question that redundant “I don't need this earpiece” drama Beyoncé pulled mid-way through the performance.
We hope the immiment Destiny’s Child Superbowl reunion performance will play out differently. (Or at least offer some delectable – alright, Bootylicious – dance moves to compensate.)
