In the wake of the Orlando homophobic shooting, that left 49 dead and countless others devastated, funny people and deadset delightful human beings Chrissie Swan and Joel Creasey are planning to pull together a huge variety gala in Melbourne, with the proceeds going to support the families and victims of the shooting.
Hell fucking yes!
Swan and Creasey will be hosting ‘Stand[UP] 4 Orlando’, on 12 June featuring the likes of Julie Morris, Judith Lucy, Peter Helliar, Magda Szubanski, Marg Downey and Jane Turner, with more are being announced every day. The evening may also possibly even include Dami Im (it’s a long-shot).

The pair appeared on The Project overnight to talk about the tragedy, and Creasey said what really hit home for him was that when he found out, he had just come home from a night out at a gay club himself.
Swan said on The Project,
“I remember having a discussion with Joel, that if it was in Melbourne that would have been you,”
Carrie Bickmore is also a possibility to be a celebrity auctioneer at the gala. Sounds like a brill lineup!
