Star Wars has been trending all this week as people literally (read figuratively) lose their shit over new trailers, teasers and tickets that literally went on sale 10 mins ago (8am today).
But the latest trending catchphrase #BoycottStarWarsVII shows an ugly side to hype.
The ridiculous call to boycott the latest Star Wars film is a result of claims that it’s ‘anti-white’ because John Boyega (who plays new character Finn) is a black guy who kills a tonne of white dudes. Some tweeters are going as far as saying that it incites white genocide.

Apparently said white people are feeling displaced in the Western world as a result of the multiculturalism – guys, it’s 2015.
The farcical remarks are being met with a stormtrooper of ‘fuck-yous’ from the Twittersphere as racists are told to crawl back in a hole and shut the hell up. Still some dickheads and/or trolls are making this a thing, highlighting that the internet can’t always handle nice things.
